What to Expect After Cataract Surgery with the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens® at Eye Consultants of Savannah
Undergoing cataract surgery is a major step toward clearer vision. At Eye Consultants of Savannah, we understand that you may have questions or concerns about what happens next. With traditional intraocular lenses (IOLs), the outcome is determined by pre-surgery calculations. However, with the Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®/LAL+®) by RxSight®, your vision can be fine-tuned after surgery to ensure your vision is suited for your lifestyle.
The Light Adjustment Process: A Personalized Approach
Approximately three weeks after your cataract surgery, you will return to [Practice Name] to begin a series of custom light treatments. These treatments use a specialized Light Delivery Device™ (LDD™) to adjust your vision in response to your individual healing process and lifestyle preferences. This means that instead of making a permanent decision about your vision before surgery, you and your doctor will work together post-surgery to customize your eyesight.
How Effective Is the Light Adjustable Lens?
Studies have shown that patients who receive the Light Adjustable Lens and complete the recommended post- surgery treatments are nearly twice as likely to achieve 20/20 vision or better without glasses compared to those with standard monofocal lenses.1
Why Do I Need to Wear The RxSight UV-Protective Glasses?
After surgery, your lens remains adjustable until it is permanently locked in. During this adjustment phase, exposure to natural ultraviolet (UV) light could unintentionally alter your lens before we finalize your prescription.
To protect your vision and ensure that adjustments occur only under controlled conditions in your doctor’s office, you will need to wear the provided RxSight UV-protective glasses until your final lock-in treatment is completed.
We understand that wearing protective glasses for several weeks may feel inconvenient, but this temporary step ensures that your vision stays perfectly tuned to your needs. While a brief change in style is temporary, the benefit of having the best possible visual outcome for your lifestyle will last a lifetime. Once the final adjustment is made and your lens is locked in, you’ll no longer need to worry about UV exposure affecting your eyesight.
Looking Ahead: Your Vision, Your Way
Selecting the Light Adjustable Lens means choosing customized vision that adapts to your lifestyle. The adjustment phase allows careful tailoring of the lens for the long-term benefit of personalized, optimized vision.
If you have any questions about the post-surgery process or what to expect, our team at Eye Consultants of Savannah is here to support you every step of the way! Your vision is our priority, and we’re excited to help you achieve the best possible outcome for your lifestyle.
